Operations Specialist

CDC Federal Credit Union - Tucker, GA

Position Title: Operations Specialist                                 Classification: Non-Exempt

Department: Operations                                                       Reports To: Operations Manager

PURPOSE: Be an Exemplary Service Provider consistently exhibiting CDC FCU’s Core Values and remembering: Members First. Perform all FEDLINE functions, and process VISA overdrafts. Contribute to the achievement of CDC Federal Credit Union’s Strategic Goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

SERVICE

  • Exhibit a cooperative, positive attitude
  • Follow all service standards established by the credit union

OPERATIONAL

  • Ensure wire transfer procedures are followed to include validating domestic and international wire transactions
  • Handle Fed midday balancing
  • Order cash
  • Track cash at Catalyst, First Tennessee and Federal Home Loan Bank
  • Process convenience checks/PLOC advances
  • Pull and send FDR Settlement Wire Information
  • Handle Deceased Accounts
  • Daily Review of Large Currency Report
  • Handle Verafin notices as well as CTRs
  • Review and approve ATM Deposits

Automated Clearing House

  • Process all payments and returns of ACH and Inclearing exceptions on a daily basis
  • Process and maintain ACH Origination files
  • Handle daily ACH and Inclearing Exceptions
  • Research and answer all ACH related questions
  • Handle all Notifications of Change received from the FED according to ACH Rules
  • Ensure ACH Spreadsheet is updated daily with Debits and Credits for the A, B, C, and D files
  • Process ACH and Inclearing exceptions and existing ACH originations

Other

  • Process Returned Deposit (Fed Returns)
  • Send out notices for Levy’s & Garnishments
  • Process Social Security Retirement reclamations as they are received
  • Oversee daily operation of Courtesy Pay Program; report any issues to manager
  • Manage Dormant Account & Negative Balance File Maintenance that includes account research and month-end reporting
  • Verify Wires daily/Verify Fed-Mid Day Balance
  • New Account Scrubs
  • Process Fed Adjustments
  • Report NSF refunds for Strunk

GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

  • Be open to improvement
  • Follow all credit union policies, procedures, security guidelines, and regulatory and policy compliance requirements, i.e., Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, and all other compliance related policies
  • Actively participate in all internal and external training as required
  • Cross-train in other job-related responsibilities within the department
  • Initiate continuous learning and development through internal or external resources

  • Support CDC FCU by using credit union products and services in order to be fully educated and have first-hand knowledge of our offerings
  • Promote CDC FCU Membership
  • Recommend process changes for service quality improvement
  • Resolve questions and issues promptly
  • Assist associates in other departments
  • Handle all other duties that may be assigned

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High School diploma; some college preferred
  • Possess one-year experience in operations at a financial institution or one-year prior experience with CDC Federal Credit Union
  • Strong data entry skills; perform work with accuracy
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and software; proficient in Excel
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail; use good judgement
  • Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and plan work.
  • Strong member service orientation
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; good listening skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in problem solving; able to make sound logical decisions; analytical
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with CDC FCU’s dress code.
